Ordnance Survey - Half-inch to the Mile, Scotland, Outline Edition, water in blue, 1942

This series at half-inch to the mile scale (1:126,720) was published during the Second World War as an Outline (uncoloured) series, with inland water features printed in blue. This series reflects the late 19th century landscape, with only minor later updates to topography and roads. The maps reflect the original compilation of the half-inch series from 1902, with topographic content derived from the main nationwide revision of maps at the larger-scales from the 1890s. One series was published with relief shown by layer-colours and the other with hachures. These are all our sheets of this 1942 Outline series with water in blue, all held at Map.Area.C18(41).
