KNAPDALE (Section Note)
To the south of Knapdale is Kintyre, which is joined to it by such a narrow and sandy neck that sailors pull small boats across it for a short-cut; on the north is Lorne; on the east Loch Fyne ] (1) washes against it, and on the east (2) that part of the western sea which touches the east side of the islands of Jura and Islay. More doubtless should be said about this province, which the harshness of the time prevents (3). And so I earnestly ask the reader to be content with the map and approve my efforts.
