Pont texts
The Pont texts contain descriptive topographic information, believed to derive from Timothy Pont. They form a useful complement to his maps. Read more about the Pont texts. Acknowledgement
There are four ways to search the texts:
- To find texts for a particular area, click on the relevant section of the index map to the right.
- The list of regions is a brief list of areas Pont and Macfarlane used as headings for sections of the texts.
- The place name list is a more detailed search by specific placenames.
- Free text search for words as written in their original form.
