Nairn
Pont's drawing of the royal burgh of Nairn, 15 miles east of Inverness,
is orientated with west to the top, the Kirk to the top left and the
River Nairn flowing by underneath. The ruins of the old Cast[le] in the Moray Firth, added by Robert Gordon after Pont's death, may
seem unlikely, but were confirmed as being visible at low tide in
the 18th century.
