Linlithgow
Linlithgow (Lithqvo) is clearly recognisable from this detail,
which shows Linlithgow Palace from the north, with the palace loch
in front of it. This magnificent royal castle was initiated by James
I in 1425, and was the birthplace and residence of several other Stewart
monarchs, including Mary Queen of Scots. A small part of the burgh
of Linlithgow can be seen to the upper right of the Palace.
