Hamilton and Bothwell

The detail shows Hamilton (HAMELTON), the seat of the Duke of Hamilton near where the River Avon joins the Clyde. Pont shows the Palace as a four-storeyed building, flanked by two taller towers. Near the top is Bothwell (Bothwel) and its bridge over the Clyde (clydsbrig), site of the later Covenanting Battle of Bothwell Brig (1679).
