Dumfries
Dumfries (DRVMFREES), with its bridge across the Nith, appears
towards the top of this detail. Burgage plots (strips of land given
to burgh residents) can clearly be seen behind the buildings fronting
onto the main street, as can St Michael's Kirk to the lower right.
Towards the bottom of the image, the Nith opens out into the Solway
Firth at Caerlaverock (Carlavrock) Castle.
