Crieff
Crieff is situated about 17 miles west of Perth at the junction of
Glen Turret and Strathearn. It is not easy to read the concentration
of settlement names in this area, but the Kirk (K: of Kreef)
can be clearly seen as a focal point. In Pont's time Crieff was already
becoming important as a centre for cattle droving, with its autumn
market, only eclipsed by Falkirk in the 18th century.
