Ian R. Mitchell formerly lectured in History at Clydebank College, where
his particular interests were the history of Germany and of Scottish culture.
Now a full-time mountaineering writer, Ian has published many books on mountain
culture and mountain history, most notably Scotland's Mountains before the
Mountaineers (1998).
