Dr Andrew Grout worked for the British Geological Survey for 13 years,
many of which were spent mapping the geology of Scotland. Since 1996 he has
been a Research Fellow at the Department of Geography, the University of Edinburgh.
In 1998-99 he was a Research Assistant to Project Pont and drew up recommendations
for the electronic delivery of the Pont maps. He is now working to establish

the Nation' project.
