Dr Andrew Grout worked for the British Geological Survey for 13 years, many of which were spent mapping the geology of Scotland. Since 1996 he has been a Research Fellow at the Department of Geography, the University of Edinburgh. In 1998-99 he was a Research Assistant to Project Pont and drew up recommendations for the electronic delivery of the Pont maps, as well as establishing the 'Charting the Nation' website for historical maps of Scotland, 1550-1740.
